1-2/1600 Build

Westhoff Motorsports young gun, Joey Westhoff, is moving up in classes. After racing in class 5/1600 for years, Joey Westhoff is ready to take his talent and compete in the competitive 1-2/1600 class. Racing against the likes of veteran Rob MacCachren, Desert Assassin's Brian Burgess, 2005 SCORE points champion Caleb Gaddis, and many more top racers, Westhoff Motorsports is eager to show the off-road community what they're made of. Look for the team to rage through the desert in a variety of classes while their new 1-2/1600 is being built to compete in the 2007 season.

Westhoff Motorsports' 1-2/1600 build has been an ongoing project this year and will debut for the 2007 off-road racing season. Joey Westhoff and veteran off-road racer Troy Johnson have been doing this build at Johnson Fab in Riverside, Ca. Johnson Fab is a well-known fabrication shop owned and operated by Troy Johnson. They build, prep, and race many well known race vehicles. The Kia Trophy Truck was built and prepped by Johnson Fab, as well as many off-road legend's such as Curt LeDuc and Walker Evans.

Joey and Troy have been working together to make sure that this 1-2/1600 has all of the latest technology that the off-road industry has to offer. Wether it's an idea that has been in the industry for years, or something that they have just come up with, this car is guaranteed to have nothing but the best. Stay tuned for updates on how the car is coming along.

Westhoff Motorsports will be putting their 1-2/1600 car through a rigourous testing session soon and will then run it at the last MORE race of the season, the Holiday 200 in Barstow, California. This will give the team ample testing time, and a complete shake down in order to prepare them for the entire 2007 season.

Westhoff Motorsports has just picked up their Major Performance Racing Motor. Ken Major, owner, set the team up with nothing but the best. Joey has joined an elite group of drivers who race with Major Motors, including, Caleb Gaddis, 2005 SCORE Champion, Adam Pfankuch, Billy Skinner, Mike Williams and Daniel McMillin. Joey and his team want nothing but the best and with all the wins that Major Performance has, they knew where they needed to go.

In only a few weeks the race transmission will be done and ready for testing. Daniel Foltz, a well known tranny builder in the off road racing community, is putting together a winning transmission for Westhoff Motorsports using nothing but the latest in off road technology.

Just added to the car is the newly designed Fortin power rack, pictured on the bottom left and corner, designed specially for beam cars. Westhoff Motorsports has also put together the new CNC pedal assembly and is getting ready to plumb and wire the entire car.

Joey has moved his car from Johnson Fab to The Fab School where his class will help in finishing the rest of the fabrication. Joey, an elite instructor at The Fab School, wants to give his students a chance to learn the in's and out's of building a 1-2/1600 car and this is the perfect opportunity for them. They have already learned how to build battery boxes, mount pedals and build brake lines using both stainless steel braided and hard lines. Joey will now go on to teach them how to completely plumb and wire the entire car.

After learning about plumbing and wiring they will then go on to finishing the shock towers, learning about bump steer and mounting the rack.
