Westhoff Motorsports Takes Home Two Trophies at the MORE Powder Puff Race for a CURE
Brittany Sanchez buckled into her Mastercraft race seat for the first race of the day in the Westhoff Motorsports #557. Brittany and co-driver Janet Westhoff, who teamed with Brittany for last years inaugural race, were prepared to overcome whatever the Barstow desert might throw at them. Due to some last minute adjustments to the car the two missed their starting position, causing them to start at the back of the pack. Brittany and Janet fought their way through the desert and into second place. Unfortunately the ring and pinon couldn't hold up to the Major Performance power and took them out on the last lap. One car passed them while they were down and the two ended up finishing on the podium, taking home the third place trophy.
Brittany rushed from RM 8 to get to the starting line as the afternoon race was about to get underway. As soon as she was buckled into her Mastercraft 3G she made her way to the starting line with Renee Westhoff in the right seat. The team drew last in the starting grid of about 20 1-2/1600's, and with well over 65 cars in the second heat Brittany knew she had her work cut out for her. Determined to have a strong finish in the newly painted 1-2/1600 Brittany and Renee made their way through the line of cars, making their way from 20th to the top three. Only a few miles from the finish Brittany rolled the car. The two landed on all four wheels, checked the car out and made it to the finish. Unforunately the race was so close that two cars passed them in the few minutes they were down. Brittany and Renee went on and finished 5th out of 20 1-2/1600. The entire team is excited with the end results and Brittany commented, "I had a blast. My co-drivers did great and we had strong finishes in both classes. But the most important thing is that we were out here raising money for a great cause. We can't wait to be a part of it next year, we're already planning!" Westhoff Motorsports would like to thank DIRTnewz Racing for the use of their Major Performance Race Motor, without the Major power there is no way that the 5/1600 would have been so strong! Our crew, thanks for cramming in the extra hours to get both the 5/1600 & 1-2/1600 ready for this race. And our dedicated sponsors, there is no way we would be this far without all of you: Carol Buzzbee, Signpros Custom Lettering, Carey Building Supply, DIRTnewz Racing, Mastercraft Race Seats, DezertGirl, Tune Time, Major Performance, Fox Racing Shox, The Fab School, Automotive Paintin' Place, Motocam360, Three Year Breast Cancer Survivor Conni Willis, Laura Steinman, KalGuard, and Mark and Denise Mitchell.
