Westhoff Motorsports Ready to Take on the Baja Peninsula October 30, 2006 - The 39th annual SCORE Tecate Baja 1000 is one of the world's largest off road races known to man. The granddaddy of all desert races and the one that everyone wants to participate in, watch, but most importantly finish. This year Westhoff Motorsports will be joining forces with MW Motorsports to take on the one and only SCORE Baja 1000. First behind the wheel will be car owner, Rick Wilcoxson and his co-driver Tracy Cambell, these two will charge hard and bring the car from the start line to El Crucero where Troy Johnson and Joey Westhoff will take over the driving duties. Troy Johnson, owner and instructor at The Fab School, and his co-driver Joey Westhoff, Troy's right hand man in the classroom and on the racecourse, have teamed up with MW Motorsports this entire year in the MORE racing series. The four have once again landed themselves in first place in the race for the points for the 2006 MORE Class 1 Championship. After winning the title last year MW Motorsports had their standards set high and they aren't ready to give up that title just yet.
Once the car reaches Loreto, Troy and Joey will hand the car off to one of Troy's former Kia Team Members, Glen Plake. Glen, a two time World Champion Hot Dog Skier, is the image of the extreme motorsports world. Glen and his co-driver, Jay Rikchert, will take the racecar the rest of the way to the finish line in La Paz, Baja Sur. Glen is no rookie to off road racing, being an intricate part in Team Kia's Paris - Dakar efforts, and capturing victory in Class 3 at a previous Baja 1000. This team is made up of nothing but the best and all are looking forward to being a part in the 39th annual SCORE Tecate Baja1000. For the first time in SCORE's history the entry list for the Baja 1000 has skyrocketed, with over 400 entries and over 30 of them being Class 1's the #113 of MW Motorsports will go off the line 13th in class. This race will be nationally televised so be sure to stay tuned as we bring you the latest news in our racing efforts.
