Westhoff Motorsports Debuts a New Look for 2007 January 12, 2007 – A new season, a new car, and a whole new look for Westhoff Motorsports will debut today at the season opener of the 2007 MORE Series. Joey Westhoff and the rest of the team will head out to Lucerne Valley, California to put the new #1691 in the dirt for the first time. After many long nights and a lot of hard working team members Westhoff Motorsports is ready to put their new car through the paces this season.
The 250 mile race will be the first test for Westhoff Motorsports and many other new cars ready to show the desert what they are made of. The Lucerne Valley race course is known for it’s high speed dry lake bed at Bessemer Mine, uphill sand washes, and tight canyons.
This 39 mile course will take it’s toll on many cars, old and new as they fly through the desert ready to start off the 2007 season. Joey and his father Tom will be soaring 3rd off the line and in position for a great finish. Joey and his father started racing their 5/1600 together in 2000 and are back to show the desert that they still have what it takes. After two laps Tom will take over as crew chief and Brittany Sanchez will get in. Joey and Brittany raced the 2005 SCORE Baja 1000 together in the Desertbull Racing 5-1600 and then teamed with Desertbull Racing for the 2006 MORE series. Brittany will then get out and hand over co-driving duties to Joey’s mom, Janet Westhoff who started co-driving for her son during the 2000 MORE season. For the last two laps Troy Johnson, President and instructor at The Fab School, will take over the wheel with his 14 year old son Austin directing him through the Lucerne Valley desert. Troy and Joey teamed together last year to drive and co-drive the MW Motorsports Class 1 during the entire 2006 MORE series. Together they worked hard all year and claimed the Class 1 championship for the second year in a row.
With a team like this, Westhoff Motorsports is determined to have a great season. Be sure to stop by our pit and check out the new car as we debut it today at contingency in Lucerne Valley, California for the MORE KST 250. Many thanks goes out to all of our sponsors including, The Fab School, Carey’s Building Supply, Mastercraft Race Products, Dirtnewz.com, Fox Racing Shox, Signpros, MW Motorsports, and The Westhoff’s, without everyone’s help this race wouldn’t be possible.
