Joey and David Crash UPDATE: April 25, 2009 - Westhoff Motorsports' driver Joey Westhoff and David Norris are still recovering from the December 6th race accident four months ago. Although Joey is in much better shape and will attempt to get back in the #35 MasterCraft Racing Trophy Truck at this year's SCORE Baja 500; David Norris is moving along and going through physical therapy, trying everything he can to avoid surgery. We ask that you check in regularly for updates on the two as Westhoff Motorsports takes the season off in the 1-2/1600 but Joey Westhoff takes on the #35 Trophy Truck in only a few weeks. Check out MastercraftRacing.com for more. December 8, 2008 - Joey Westhoff & David Norris were in the #1691 Westhoff Motorsports 1600 and running hard. On their first lap of the small loop they flew into a big ditch at about 50 MPH stopping the car immediately, the two called for an ambulance instantly. We would like to thank everyone involved in helping us get Joey & David out of the racecar quickly and safely. Thanks to Lee Perfect & Craig who arranged for the life flight, the San Bernadino Fire Department who heard the call from the Flying J and responded quickly, Wendy & Tina (the MORE medics), Brother Bob, Michael, Ray, Mike, Uncle Terry, Brian, Jimmy Hook and everyone else who helped out. I would like to thank my dad, who kept me strong throughout the whole day and Ashley who drove us to the hospital and got us there in one piece. We would also like to thank Jim & Amy at MORE. I'm sure there are more as there were tons of people who came out to help. The boys are in a lot of pain but are at home recovering. David fractured his L1 & L2 vertebrae and Joey seems to be clear of any fractures. The boys are in good spirits and happy that the injuries weren't any worse. We all believe that the safety restraints truly saved their lives. Joey was wearing a HANS device and David an R3, and they were both belted into their Mastercraft 3G's. Without this kind of safety the injuries definitely would have been worse. Once again thanks to everyone!
